Because I HAD to go to the supermarket super-early today, I woke my ass up at 6am to do this workout. I don’t know if it was too early or if I didn’t have enough in me (I ate 1 slice {45 cals} of 7-grain bread) but I could barely keep up. I was the boss at that workout last week…totally different story this week. Wow.

I must say though, I love the fact that my workout is done today! It all rainy outside, so please believe I’m going right back into my warm bed ….I’m unemployed….whaaaat?!

New CFN Stuff

Right now, I’m working on getting CFN onto its own domain! It has all been set up, I’m just trying to figure out the style stuff; hopefully it’ll all be done within a couple of days…so please be patient if I’m not posting as often.

Smooches!

Today’s Workout…

… was P90x chest & back and also the ab ripper workout.

The title of this post really should be “I hate push-ups”…but, when I think about it, I would rather do all these friggin push-ups than do that YogaX workout again…ugh.

I was comparing my performance to last week aaaaaaaaaaaaand I’m disappointed. For most of the exercises, I did about the same number of reps if not less. BUT, my back and arms were still fatigued from last week’s workout and I think I move too slowly.

Points noted for the next time.

12 Questions for: Miss S

Look at her curves and toned legs! Miss S answers CFN’s interview questions:

1. How do you maintain your sexiness? Make sure the skin on my face always looks good by washing it every night, face mask every 2 weeks, and facial 2-3 times a year. Make sure my hair and makeup looks good when I go out. Even when I am running errands, it’s important to me to look nice and put together.

2. What physical features attract you to someone? Face and height.

3. When and why did you start exercising? I’ve been exercising since I was 13 or 14. I started then with figure skating.

4. Did you have an active childhood? Yes, I did 🙂
a. Did you play sports? Figure skating was my sport, I did it seriously for 4 good years, starting at age 13. I still love the sport. Other sports I like: tennis, bicycling (my fav), running.
b. Were others around you good fitness role models? I didn’t have people close to me who were good fitness role models. I did look to fitness role models who were famous, such as Michelle Kwan (for figure skating), Michael Johnson (running), and Darrell Green (Redskins fan in me).

5. What is your current workout routine? Currently I like riding my bike on the Capital Crescent Trail once a week (14 miles round trip!) and lifting weights or yoga once more in the week.

6. What do you usually eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner?
I think I generally eat healthy, but I love my sweets! I believe in the happy medium! Because I live by myself, I don’t make a lot of meat in all of my meals or cook lots of greasy meals. Recently I’ve been big on eating a nice bowl of strawberries, blueberries and cherries. I do this for the vitamins and antioxidants, so that my skin has a nice glow to it. I do notice a slight difference! I eat a lot of sushi, usually 1-3x per week. I like making cobb salads at home. Breakfast is usually a banana and cereal. I would say my diet is alright. I have to say that I am one of those extremely lucky people who has a fast metabolism…

7. What exercise do you HATE to do but do it anyways? Shoulder lifts with the dumbbell.

8. What is your favourite body part? My legs and my skin.
a. Why? My legs because they are long. My skin because its soft, not finicky, and not as much hair as other persian girls, lol.

9. You like when people look at your face because it makes you feel pretty.

10.You wish your ______ was bigger. I don’t wish anything was bigger! I already have long legs and arms, am happy with my face, chest, and butt. I don’t want any of it to be bigger 🙂

11.You wish your feet were smaller.

12. I wish that I never got another zit again because they annoy the heck out of me.

It is really great that, even though Miss S didn’t really have any fitness role models immediately close to her, she still looked to others as healthy examples.

WTF Happened to My Toe Shoes??

Soooo, I wake up yesterday morning, ready to don my toe shoes for my P90x KenpoX workout. I pick up the left shoe and begin to freak out: Dadli, my cat, attacked my toe shoes. WTF?

I picked up my scarred toe shoe, ran to the living room and proceeded to wave the shoe and yell at Dadli like a madwoman….doesn’t she know how much these things cost? Dadli was smart… she fled the scene immediately.

I knew something sinister was going through Dadli’s mind when during my abs workout two days before, I saw her looking at the toe shoes funny; her beady little eyes were following every movement of the shoes.

I checked on the shoes this morning and they don’t seem to have endured another attack. Did I get through to Dadli? Only time will tell.

…wasP90x yoga. That was the worst 90 minutes of my life. Slightly dramatic I suppose but I just didn’t like it, which is so weird because I LOVE yoga. I don’t know if I didn’t like it because when I turned it on I saw that it was 1.5 hours or what. In addition to yoga-ing for waaaay too long, I got bored. I can hold the poses (except for like two) but Tony just took long in between poses and my mind wanders….wandering why the eff there is so much time remaining.

So that I wouldn’t turn off the DVD, I took like a 1,268,936 breaks:

  1. I paused to tweet that this ish is 1.5 hours long
  2. I paused to put on weight gloves because of my sweaty hands
  3. I paused to take off my socks and put on toe shoes (part entertainment and part sweaty feet…..don’t judge me!)
  4. I paused to check my phone
  5. I paused to check email
  6. I paused to have a teaspoon of peanut butter
  7. I paused to have another teaspoon of peanut butter
  8. I paused to check email again
  9. I paused to check on my TweetDeck

And of course all these pauses extended my friggin workout time. Anyhoot, for the next time, I now know what to expect so I can get my mind right beforehand.

siiiiiiiiiiiigh

You May <3 Yoga, but Does Yoga <3 You?

I am not bashing yoga; I love it as much as the next person, but sometimes you gotta wonder (as you balance on one arm while your leg is simultaneously wrapped around your neck) if some of these poses are doing more harm than good or if your yoga instructor really know what the hell is going on.

My cousin sent me this interesting article that made me think: does your yoga teacher really know what they’re talking about? You’re in a yoga class with 15 other people…how much time can your instructor devote to making sure that you (and the 14 other students) are holding EACH pose correctly? Not only that, but what kind of certification does your teacher hold? Its not like yoga teachers have to pass a national certifying exam (like the NCLEX or USMLE, etc)…yes there are certifications that yoga teachers get, but its not standardized really.

One of the main points of the article was bring to light the importance thoroughly checking out your yoga teacher/studio to make sure they are really able to instruct you properly so that you get the benefits of yoga and to avoid injuries at all costs. Certifications are important, but I really believe in word of mouth.

Consider this article as you choose a new yogi or yogini to ensure that you avoid any ahimsas as you go through your asanas in your selected ashram.

Namaste.
